We are looking for a highly skilled Tax & Audit Manager to oversee and deliver the tax and audit strategy across the NRL Group. This role requires strong technical expertise, excellent stakeholder management, and the ability to ensure full compliance with UK and international regulations.
The NRL Group is a multi-national business with annual turnover in the region of £250m with a recent track record of substantial growth. Reporting to the Group CFO, this new role will deliver the strategic lead and technical guidance to ensure the Group continues to deliver robust tax controls to minimise risk, whilst also leading our audit relationships both inside and outside of the UK.
Key Responsibilities:
You will manage and deliver:
You will lead the Group’s relationship with HMRC in all regards, reflecting the Group’s size which means we are part of HMRC’s SAO regulatory framework. You will ensure the Group is well placed for all and any HMRC audits
You will ensure technical tax accuracy in the Group’s overseas operations, including dealing with tax authorities and local tax partners, and ensure the Group’s structure is tax efficient at all times. A particular focus will be on ensuring transfer pricing and withholding tax positions are appropriate in all markets.
Lead engagement with Armstrong Watson for UK and Group audits, statutory accounts, and corporation tax, including managing data provision for audit queries.
Manage Grant Thornton through Irish audit, statutory audit, and corporation tax processes with the same level of involvement as UK audits.
Liaise with Lloyds Bank during audits of the Group’s invoice debt facility.
Audit the Group’s PSL to ensure compliance with Umbrella JSL legislation, as the legislative changes being introduced in April 2026 will shift liability for all PAYE and NI to a Joint & Several Liability position and substantially change the Group’s tax risk
Deliver other international audit, tax, and compliance requirements as they arise.
Conduct supply chain legitimacy checks to ensure trading partners are VAT registered and invoicing correctly.
Qualifications:
ACCA qualified (or equivalent professional accounting qualification).
Additional tax or compliance certifications would be advantageous.

What we’re looking for:
Strong knowledge of HMRC compliance requirements.
Proven experience working with external auditors to deliver year-end audits, statutory accounts, and corporation tax processes.
Familiarity with non-UK tax and trading environments is advantageous.
Excellent data management and analytical skills to handle complex audit queries.
Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
