What to expect: We are seeking a proactive and experienced Procurement Buyer to lead and develop the procurement of engineering components and sub-assemblies as a member of our Manufacturing team. You will be central to optimising our supplier relationships, ensuring compliance, and helping us scale responsibly and effectively. What you'll be responsible for: Leading, managing, and developing procurement and contract processes across the business. Developing effective inventory management to support MRP, Kanban and R&D. Acting as the first point of contact for all procurement-related queries, providing top-notch service to both internal teams and external suppliers. Developing and maintaining effective procurement and contracting frameworks aligned with regulatory and company policies. Coordinating and executing quote requests, tenders, and call-offs. This includes preparing and managing tender documentation via e-tendering platforms. Ensuring that all procurement activity is compliant, efficient, and delivers strong value for money. Maintaining accurate records and supporting reporting on procurement performance and compliance. Requirements Essential: Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a strategic purchasing role, ideally working with electro-mechanical assembly. Experience in material requirements planning (MRP) procurement related to manufacturing. Ability to work from engineering drawings/technical specifications. Demonstrable strategic approach to procurement and strong knowledge of procurement best practice. Strong commercial acumen with experience of contract negotiation. Exceptional communication skills and an ability to work with stakeholders at all levels. Strong experience working with the full Microsoft Office suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint and Outlook. Desirable: Educated to degree level or equivalent professional qualification. Qualified or working towards MCIPS, or relevant industry experience. Experience of the development and management of ‘Pull’ or JTI supply chains, in order to support a forecast driven ‘build to order’ expectation.
