Overview
Band 7 Senior Mental Health Practitioner – Defence Primary Healthcare (DPHC). The post is full-time (37.5 hours per week) based at RAF Brize Norton, Carterton, OX18 3LX. Requests to work flexibly and/or part time will be considered based on business needs. Salary: £46,148 to £52,809 a year (pro-rata for part time). Responsibilities
* Providing a timely and high-quality mental health service to all patients referred to the Department of Community Mental Health (DCMH) for assessment and treatment of mental health presentations.
* Undertaking a wide variety of clinical work, within your competencies and stretching your capabilities.
* Acting as a clinical resource, liaising with Medical Officers/General Practitioners (MO/GP) and advising the chain of command on mental health matters, administrative management of personnel with mental health difficulties and mental health promotion.
* Working flexibly within 37.5 hours per week, with core service hours 8am–5pm; team operational across a network requiring flexibility in where and how care is delivered.
* Providing training in assessment and formulation and other CBT-based practices to the team.
* Deputising for the team manager and providing delegated professional management of the team as required.

Qualifications and Registrations
* Essential: Registered Mental Health Nurse, Social Worker or Occupational Therapist (OT) with post-graduate training and accreditation in NICE-recognised modalities for common mental disorders (e.g., CBT), OR significant experience as a psychological therapy practitioner in a stepped care service with HCPC registration and BABCP accreditation.
* Essential: Registration with the relevant professional body (NMC, Social Work England, HCPC) and membership number; validity required prior to submission.
* Experience in adult community mental health; interest in working with the military is desirable.
Desirable
* Experience of clinical leadership, leading quality improvement programmes, and post-qualification training in clinical supervision.

Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) checks, UK professional registration, probation period (6 months for new Civil Service employees), and security requirements apply. Sponsorship under the points-based system is not offered for this role. Some elements of the job may include office/home-based flexibility, with a non-contractual arrangement requiring a minimum of 60% office presence where business needs allow.
