Key Responsibilities:
* Provide accurate interpretation: Bridge language barriers in real-time between English and Hungarian speakers, whether in person, over the phone, or via video.
* Handle diverse assignments: Work in a variety of public and private settings, including medical consultations, police interviews, court hearings, and business meetings.
* Uphold confidentiality: Maintain the highest level of discretion with all sensitive information, strictly adhering to professional codes of conduct.
* Demonstrate cultural sensitivity: Apply a deep understanding of both Hungarian and British cultures to provide contextually appropriate interpretation.
* Prepare diligently: Research terminology and context for each assignment to ensure precision and accuracy.
* Travel as needed: Be available to travel to various locations within the UK for on-site appointments.
Skills and Qualifications:
* Bilingual fluency: Complete command of both Hungarian and English.
* Professional credentials: A formal interpreting qualification is highly preferred. This could include a Diploma in Public Service Interpreting (DPSI), a Level 3 Certificate in Community Interpreting, or a degree in a related field.
* Proven experience: Prior professional interpreting experience is essential.
* Legal and ethical compliance: Must be prepared to undergo an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check and have the legal right to work as a self-employed professional in the UK.
