The Role
We are seeking an organised, proactive, and detail‑driven Production Planner to join our operations team. This is a key role responsible for coordinating production, transport, and supply chain activities to ensure products are manufactured efficiently, delivered on time, and meet customer specifications.
Working closely with production teams, sales, purchasing, logistics partners, and internal operational departments, you’ll create and manage daily, weekly, and monthly production schedules. You’ll ensure materials and components are available, allocate labour and equipment effectively, optimise workflows, monitor progress, and resolve any bottlenecks or quality issues.
This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced manufacturing or assembly environment and enjoys balancing operational detail with strategic planning.
Responsibilities
* Organise and schedule production to meet customer and business demands
* Work with procurement to ensure all components and materials are available
* Develop daily and weekly production plans aligned with stock levels and customer orders
* Allocate labour and equipment to maximise efficiency
* Analyse and improve production processes
* Identify bottlenecks and implement practical solutions to reduce delays, waste, and cost
* Forecast material and production requirements using data analysis
* Plan and coordinate outbound deliveries with third‑party hauliers
* Ensure finished goods are despatched on time and in full
* Collaborate with management, sales, production, quality, and warehouse teams
* Keep teams updated on schedule changes, delays, and production status
* Support operations in achieving daily and weekly output targets
* Track production performance and adjust plans as needed
* Support site audits and compliance with quality and health & safety standards
* Prepare reports on production KPIs, variances, and trends
* Maintain accurate schedules using ERP/MRP systems (Sage 200 experience advantageous)
Skills & Experience
* Experience in production planning, scheduling, or supply chain coordination (electrics or similar manufacturing experience highly beneficial)
* Strong understanding of supply chain and manufacturing processes
* Mechanical or electrical knowledge is preferred
* Excellent organisational and communication skills
* Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and drive process improvements
* Proficient in ERP/MRP systems and Microsoft Excel
* Experience working with third‑party hauliers and planning transport
* Ability to work flexibly and support operations during peak periods
* Comfortable working in fast-paced manufacturing or assembly environments
