About New Dawn New Day
New Dawn New Day (NDND) works with women involved in the criminal justice system, providing specialist, trauma-informed support to address the underlying causes of offending. We support women at various points in their journey, from early intervention and diversion through to intensive, wrap-around support for those serving community sentences or leaving prison. Our work is gender-responsive and tailored to the specific needs of women across Leicestershire.
We are seeking a passionate and committed Women's Services Practitioner to join our team. This is a vital role, working directly with women who face multiple unmet needs and significant barriers to accessing support. You will play a key part in ensuring women have access to essential services, advocating on their behalf, and providing practical and emotional assistance to help them move forward in their lives. Your work will help women feel heard, supported, and empowered to make positive changes, as part of a collaborative, trauma-informed team dedicated to improving outcomes for women in the criminal justice system.
Job Purpose
We're looking for a committed practitioner to deliver intensive, wrap‑around support to women referred to NDND through the Out of Court Resolution (OOCR) pathway. You'll work with women who may be diverted from formal criminal justice processes and who often face multiple unmet needs and barriers to engagement. Support is delivered from our women's centre in central Leicester and via outreach across the county, in a small, relational team using a gender‑responsive and trauma‑informed approach. The OOCR pathway is delivered in partnership with the OPCC as part of our wider commitment to trauma‑informed criminal justice interventions.
The Key Responsibilities are as follows:
* Managing referrals and making initial contact with women, including through outreach and in community settings, to ensure support is accessible and responsive.
* Arranging appointments and coordinating with polic and partner agencies to provide joined‑up, wrap‑around support.
* Completing holistic assessments of each woman's needs, risks and strengths, and co‑producing action plans that reflect their individual goals and priorities.
* Providing practical and emotional support, including: Referrals to specialist services (e.g. recovery, mental health, education, employment, debt/benefits).
* Advocacy for housing, emergency support, and access to essential services.
* Safe accompaniment to appointments and community visits, reducing barriers to engagement.
* Facilitating NDND's structured group programmes (such as Healthy Relationships and Emotional Management) and informal group activities, helping women build confidence and peer connections.
* Maintaining accurate, confidential case notes and contributing to monitoring, reporting, and multi‑agency planning meetings.
* Ensure all safeguarding concerns are managed in line with NDND's safeguarding policies.
* Work collaboratively within the team to contribute to the smooth running of the organisation.
* Excellent communication and organisational skills, with a compassionate and inquisitive approach.
