We have exciting opportunities at Barking and Dagenham College. We are seeking a Head of Department for English 16-18.

You will join us on a full-time, permanent basis with a competitive salary of £55,566 to £69,566 per annum, including London Weighting.
The Head of English 16-18:
The Head of Department (HoD) oversees the growth and performance of the department, including teaching, learning, assessment practices, and business planning.
Key Responsibilities:
* Work closely with the Faculty Director for English & Maths and Adult Skills to focus on strategic growth, operational development, and continuous improvement of the department, ensuring the curriculum reflects current trends and industry reforms.
* Develop a relevant curriculum aligned with local needs and the College's vision, liaising with external partners to maximize opportunities.
* Enhance quality assurance processes related to key performance indicators, ensuring compliance with internal and external standards, and promote excellent teaching, learning, and assessment practices.
* Ensure curriculum leaders are accountable for compliance and foster a performance management culture.
* Drive positive cultural change, embodying college values, empowering staff, and ensuring effective performance and development frameworks.
Qualifications, Skills, and Experience:
* Experience in leading quality cycles, including teaching observations, performance monitoring, audits, and OFSTED readiness.
* Support in self-assessment and quality improvement processes, including writing SARs and QIPs, and delivering staff training.
* Ability to promote a performance-focused approach to improve attendance, retention, achievement, and KPIs.
* Experience managing in adult or further education sectors, working with frameworks and external requirements.
* Proven ability to lead change and improve teaching and learning outcomes.
* Strong analytical skills and the ability to interpret policy and data.
* Effective team leadership and motivation skills.
The role includes a teaching commitment of 4 hours per week.
