As Volunteer Retail Events Chair, you will be responsible for planning, organising and overseeing Isabel Hospice’s charity retail events with support from a committee of event volunteers. Key Responsibilities: Chair a working party of event volunteers to plan and manage a calendar of retail events. This could be anything such as stalls at high street festivals and carnivals, kilo sales, fill a bag sales, car boot sales, jumble sales, Kings Cross Charity Shop Supermarket, jigsaw sales and so on – be as creative as you can! Support the recruitment and engagement of retail events volunteers Organise a rota of volunteers for all events Manage all prep work pre-events which will include liaising with the warehouse and shops about stock required Work with marketing for any assets needed for events advertising On the day event management and sales whenever possible or ensure a fully briefed deputy is in place instead Communication and handover of sales taken after each event to the Retail and Finance tea Skills, Qualities and Experience: Be knowledgeable of Isabel Hospice vision and values Previous experience in retail sales and/or events management is desirable although not essential Proven leadership through team coordination or management Strong verbal and written communication skills Creative, proactive, and solutions-focused approach Excellent organisational and time management skills Benefits to you: Meet new people and learn new skills Work with a friendly team and be part of the Isabel family Support your local community Contribute to the provision of care to our patients Comprehensive induction and training Support with your career goals and personal development Opportunities to learn from long-term volunteers and staff Am I eligible to volunteer? We ask that our volunteers are: At least 18 years old Live within a reasonable commute to the area (events will be across eastern Hertfordshire including Welwyn Garden City, Hatfield, Hertford, Waltham Cross, Bishop’s Stortford and Hoddesdon as well as other potential locations). A policy for travel expenses reimbursement is available. Interested in volunteering for at least 6 months for at least 3 hours per week (this is flexible and dependent on the calendar of events) As this will include stock management and set up/clear down of events, volunteers will be given manual handling training All volunteers are assessed individually for the volunteer roles they are applying for.
