As a CNC Machinist, you will play a key role in the manufacture of precision‑engineered components. Your day will involve setting up and operating manual and CNC machine tools, interpreting engineering drawings, and ensuring every part meets the highest standards of accuracy and quality. Youll work collaboratively with the production and engineering teams to deliver efficient and reliable manufacturing solutions.
Responsibilities
* Set up and operate manual and CNC machine tools such as lathes, horizontal borers, and grinders to produce precision parts.
* Read and interpret engineering drawings, layouts, and specifications to determine machining operations.
* Measure and visually inspect completed parts to detect defects and ensure conformance to manufacturing documentation.
* Perform routine maintenance on machines and equipment to ensure optimal performance.
* Collaborate with production and engineering teams to troubleshoot and resolve machining issues.
* Maintain a clean and organised work area, adhering to all health and safety procedures.
* Document and report production data, including quantities, dimensions, and any deviations from specifications.
Qualifications
* Preferably completed a recognised full Level 3 apprenticeship or hold an NVQ Level 3 or technical certificate in a relevant engineering field.
* Proven experience as a machinist in a manufacturing environment.
* Proficiency in operating machine tools such as lathes, horizontal borers, and grinders.
* Strong understanding of engineering drawings and specifications.
* Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in measurements.
* A proactive approach to problem‑solving and continuous improvement.
