Finance Officer (Part-Time)
Location: Borden
Salary: £33,143 FTE (pro rata to £18,808 per annum)
Hours: 21 hours per week (Monday, Wednesday & Thursday)
We are currently recruiting on behalf of our client for a highly organised and detail-oriented Finance Officer to join their team on a part-time basis. This is a varied and responsible role supporting the financial management of the organisation and ensuring compliance with relevant financial regulations.
The Role
Reporting to the Responsible Financial Officer (RFO), you will be responsible for the day-to-day financial operations of the organisation, ensuring accurate financial management, reporting, and compliance within a regulated framework.
Key Responsibilities
* Prepare year-end financial statements and liaise with external auditors
* Produce monthly management accounts and variance reports
* Reconcile all bank accounts on a regular basis
* Manage payroll, including PAYE, National Insurance, and year-end submissions
* Maintain accurate financial records and bookkeeping systems
* Process invoices, payments, and income collection
* Prepare VAT returns and maintain VAT records
* Support the preparation of annual budgets and forecasting
* Monitor income and expenditure against agreed budgets
* Maintain and update the asset register
* Review and strengthen internal controls and financial procedures
* Support risk management processes and annual reviews
* Assist with pension administration
* Ensure compliance with financial regulations and policies
About You
* AAT qualified (or equivalent) with strong accounting experience
* Experience in financial management, budgeting, and reporting
* High level of accuracy and attention to detail
* Strong analytical and organisational skills
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills
* Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
* Confident using accounting software
Desirable
* Previous experience within the public sector or a regulated environment
* Experience managing audits and year-end processes
* Knowledge of formal accounting practices and reporting standards
* Familiarity with finance, payroll, and HR systems
