We are looking for a professional, conscientious and highly effective GP to join our friendly team in Botesdale. We are a rural GMS 10,000 patient surgery with 4 Partners, 5 Salaried GPs and a fantastic clinical and practice team with an on-site Dispensary. The post-holder will manage a caseload and deal with a wide range of health needs in a primary care setting, ensuring the highest standards of care for all registered and temporary patients.
This role delivers comprehensive primary care through surgery, telephone, and home consultations. The post-holder makes autonomous clinical decisions for undifferentiated conditions, assesses patient needs, screens for disease risks, develops care plans, provides counselling, and manages admissions, discharges, referrals, and triage (<2 hours urgent, <24 hours routine). Safeguarding awareness, patient safety, valid consent, and safe prescribing are essential.
Responsibilities include issuing and reviewing acute and repeat prescriptions in line with the practice formulary, conducting medication reviews, and checking for drug interactions and contraindications. Any suspected misuse, safeguarding concerns, or medication errors must be escalated and reported.
Accurate and secure patient record-keeping is required, including maintaining electronic records and complying with data protection procedures. Staff must report data breaches and complete mandatory training.
The role also requires adherence to all practice policies, including prescribing, confidentiality, data protection, and health and safety. A commitment to continuous professional development, evidence-based practice, and participation in clinical audits and quality improvement activities is expected.
