Working Hours: 07:30 – 16:30 (some flexibility required).
As a Production Supervisor for GCL Food Ingredients based in Newthorpe, you’ll join an industry leader and perform various duties within our ever‑growing production facility.
Role Overview
The Production Supervisor will become part of the Production Team (Fresh Meat Department), responsible for overseeing production, company systems and processes, including troubleshooting any potential issues.
Responsibilities
* Support people development, training, discipline, grievance, absence management and performance management.
* Lead by example, ensuring a safe and efficient workplace at all times.
* Communicate expectations to production team members and evaluate their performance.
* Accurately complete all necessary documentation for regulatory compliance.
* Regularly check machinery and checkpoints to ensure safe and efficient workflow.
* Implement SOPs and associated best practice for quality, hygiene and safety.
* Set and manage KPI‑s across a balanced agenda.
* Be proactive in site technical adherence to standards, auditing and managing to these standards.
* Maintain and influence consistent H&S standards across site.
* Apply RFT (Right First Time) principles for product quality adherence.
* Implement continuous improvement through the application of modern CI tools and techniques.
* Undertake root cause analysis and problem‑solving of quality issues with the team.
* Define and drive GMP standards to targeted levels and champion supporting initiatives.
* Ensure action and escalation of any production incidents.
* Be present for site audits and manage external relationships.
* Ensure site readiness for compliance and audit requirements (ISO, HSE, BRC, GMP).
* Attend H&S committee, quality and production meetings.
* Champion root‑cause analysis and problem‑solving of quality and production issues.
* Be flexible to cover/deputise for other management roles within capability.
* Champion the planning process integration to drive an effective stock management system.
* Ensure best‑practice adherence from a stock holding, rotation and financial perspective.
* Provide feedback to the management team to share ideas and improve operation, recommending, supporting and implementing continuous improvement activities.
* Undertake any other reasonable duties requested by management.
Skills / Knowledge
* Food industry experience essential with understanding of High Care operations.
* Solid knowledge of technical environment regulations, policies, procedures and legislation.
* Demonstrable leadership acumen.
* Experience in managing departments and teams.
* Ability to lead and develop teams, fostering team‑based problem resolution.
* Ability to work under pressure and meet stringent deadlines in a fast‑paced environment.
* High level of attention to detail.
* Continuous improvement mindset.
* Excellent organisation and problem‑solving skills.
* Resilience and a flexible approach.
* Computer literacy in Microsoft Office.
Qualifications
* Extensive food production experience.
* Previous supervisory experience required.
* Educated to at least GCSE level.
* IOSH H&S (preferred).
* Food Safety Level 3 (preferred).
