UNSW Rural (Port Macquarie campus) invites applications for an Education Focussed role to contribute to rural medical education and the Independent Learning Project (ILP) program. This is a part-time, fixed-term position with potential for renewal.
Details
* Location: Port Macquarie, New South Wales
* Employment Type: Part-time (14 hours a week)
* Duration: Fixed Term contract until 30 June 2026 (with possibility of renewal)
* Remuneration: Competitive remuneration based on Academic Level B or Academic Level C, plus 17% superannuation and leave loading
* Work rights: Visa sponsorship is not available. Candidates must hold full rights to work in Australia.
Responsibilities
* Drive educational excellence within the university’s teaching and learning communities as part of the EF (Education Focused) role.
* Develop and maintain the ILP program at the campus, ensuring alignment with goals of introducing undergraduate medical students to research through supervised projects.
* Support and mentor students in ILP, including supervision, teaching, mentoring, reviews, theses, presentations, coursework, and final reports.
* Provide support in local hospital and clinical environments for ILP and other rural research projects, including design and governance, development of research skills, and ethics applications and approvals.
* Engage with local health networks (PHN, AMS) and build productive relationships, participate in professional activities, and identify/submission of funding opportunities where appropriate.
* Contribute to the development and maintenance of the RHMT Rural Research Plan, rural research framework, and related methodologies and data analysis.
Qualifications
* A Fellow of a Specialist Medical College and/or a postgraduate degree in a relevant field with experience in medical/health environments, or equivalent professional experience.
* Experience in teaching and mentoring undergraduate students with a strong commitment to rurally focused health and research projects.
* Ability to coordinate, support, and guide students studying their ILP, including supervision, teaching, mentoring, reviews, and final reporting.
* Experience providing support in local hospital/clinical settings for ILP and other rural research projects, including design, governance, and ethics processes.
* Ability to engage with local health networks and partnerships, participate in professional activities, and identify/fund research opportunities.
