The role:
We are hiring an Interim Employment Counsel – EMEA to join a highly collaborative legal team supporting the company’s global HR and people functions. Reporting to the Head of Legal (HR – EMEA), this role will provide proactive, business-focused employment law advice across the Group and EMEA divisions, advising on both day-to-day and strategic HR matters. The successful candidate will work closely with HR leadership, legal colleagues, and external counsel to deliver pragmatic, solutions-oriented advice across a range of employment issues, including restructuring, litigation, and compliance.
Key responsibilities:
* Advise on all aspects of UK and EMEA employment law, including employee relations, grievance and disciplinary matters, contractual issues, and terminations.
* Support the business on employment aspects of corporate transactions, disposals, restructurings, and harmonisation projects.
* Provide legal training and updates to HR and management teams, promoting consistent employment law practices across jurisdictions.
* Manage employment litigation, including working with and instructing external counsel.
* Advise on restrictive covenants, equalities obligations, and compliance matters.
* Support the implementation of key HR legal projects and process improvements.
What we’re looking for:
* England & Wales qualified solicitor (3-6 PQE)
* Strong post-qualification experience in UK employment law.
* Background gained from a well-respected law firm and/or in-house legal team.
* Proven ability to provide commercial, balanced advice in a fast-paced business environment.
* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to influence senior stakeholders.
* Strong judgement and pragmatic problem-solving approach.
* Capable of providing cross-border advice and coordinating international employment matters.
