Start Your Journey Supporting Young People—While Learning on the Job
Do you want to make a difference in young people’s lives while building your own skills and confidence? Are you someone who cares deeply about young people, even if you’re just starting out in this field?
At King’s Reach, we support children and teenagers who are unable to attend school due to anxiety, trauma, or other complex needs. As a Reach Out Support Worker, you’ll work alongside experienced staff to help young people reconnect, grow, and find hope for the future—without being left alone to manage a case on your own.
About King’s Reach
King’s Reach is a Christian ethos charity with over 20 years of experience working with young people who others may find hard to reach. Our Future Me programme helps young people develop life skills, build confidence, and work towards a brighter, more independent future.
What You’ll Do as a Reach Out Support Worker
You’ll work alongside a lead coach or therapist, supporting one-to-one sessions in homes or community spaces. You’ll:
Assist with weekly sessions that help build a young person’s confidence and life skills
Offer encouragement, practical help, and emotional support under the guidance of a coach
Help reduce isolation by being a positive, consistent presence in a young person’s life
Support session preparation, note-taking, and follow-up tasks
Learn from observing experienced professionals working with families, schools, and local services
Receive supervision, guidance, and training as you grow into the role
Importantly, you will never be expected to work alone with a student.
We’re Looking for Someone Who:
* Enjoys working with young people aged 11–18
* Can build trust with patience, calmness, and kindness
* Is reliable and open to learning on the job
* Has some experience in youth work, education, care, or volunteering (formal or informal)
* Can work flexibly and travel across Kent
* Values teamwork and is willing to take direction
* Understands the importance of safeguarding or is willing to learn
* Shares our belief that every young person has potential
What You’ll Get:
* Hands-on experience working with young people, while being supported
* Ongoing training and development opportunities
* A supportive team where learning is part of the culture
* Flexible working options and a healthy work-life balance
* The chance to make a real difference—even as you grow your own confidence and skills
