This is a fantastic opportunity for a detail-driven individual to join a FTSE-listed infrastructure business, working within a high-performing shared services finance team. As Finance Assistant, you’ll play a critical role in the smooth operation of core financial systems and processes across multiple business units. Key Responsibilities As a Finance Assistant (Systems & Control), your responsibilities will include: Setting up new staff and agency workers for timesheet entry, ensuring correct permissions, job types, and financial codes are applied. Maintaining accurate personal and project data records, including updates to pay rates, internal moves, and business unit changes. Processing timesheets and managing data cleansing to ensure timely weekly postings. Monitoring submissions and following up on missing timesheet data with relevant teams. Producing monthly agency reconciliation statements and related journals, ensuring any discrepancies are investigated and resolved. Updating records for non-payroll workers to ensure invoices are generated and paid on time. Closing financial entries for completed contracts and bids as directed by finance leadership. Collaborating with business partners to set up financial job structures where required. Supporting the automation and standardisation of processes within the finance function. Maintaining documentation on data processes and internal controls. Assisting with wider finance systems projects and occasionally deputising for the Finance Manager – Systems & Control. What You’ll Need to Succeed To be successful in the Finance Assistant – Systems & Control role, you will need: Previous experience in a finance support role, ideally involving timesheet or staff cost processing. Familiarity with enterprise resource planning systems such as Oracle or similar. Confidence using Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, with the ability to format documents and manage basic data tasks. A good understanding of accounting principles, including ledger structures and internal controls. An organised and detail-focused mindset, able to manage multiple tasks and meet regular deadlines. Strong communication skills, with the ability to build effective relationships with colleagues at all levels.
