Overview
Assistant Area Head – Mechanical and Electrical Services role at TieTalent. This position is based in Colchester Institute and involves leading and delivering Electrical Installation education in a modern, well-resourced environment, with a focus on hands-on training and industry-standard practices.
Responsibilities
In this Band 2 role, you will:
* Deliver high-quality Electrical Installation education and guide learners with technical expertise and passion for the trade.
* Support the operational delivery of Electrical programmes, helping manage staff and resources to ensure excellence in teaching, learning, and assessment.
* Be part of the area’s management team, contributing to strategic planning and continuous improvement to strengthen the department’s impact across the College.
* Lead, inspire, and mentor students and colleagues in a cutting-edge learning environment equipped with industry-standard technology.
Essential Qualifications
* Qualified electrician to level 3 or above in Electrical Installation/maintenance, including an AM2 assessment and NVQ
* Minimum Level 2 qualification in English and Mathematics – GCSE grade 4+ or equivalent
* Level 5 Teaching Qualification / open to completing within 3 years of employment or 3 years of the first available course
* Assessor/Verifier Awards or a willingness to achieve within six months of starting the position
Essential Experience
* Proven experience in successfully leading teams or managing staff within an educational or professional setting
* Strong background in training or teaching, with a proactive approach to curriculum development, course promotion, and marketing
* Solid hands-on trade experience within the electrical or related industries
