Overview
Element Materials Technology is seeking motivated graduates or early‑career professionals to join our team as ATEX Test and Certification Engineers. ATEX refers to European regulations governing equipment used in potentially explosive atmospheres, ensuring safety and compliance in industries such as oil, gas, chemicals, and mining. As a Notified Body under the ATEX Directive, Element is authorised to assess, test, and certify equipment to meet stringent international safety standards. Engineers evaluate product designs, conduct technical assessments, and prepare certification documentation for global clients. This role offers a unique opportunity to develop expertise in hazardous area equipment certification, contribute to global safety, and work with cutting‑edge technologies.
Responsibilities
* Provide technical and engineering leadership and support the development of new technologies within a local laboratory
* Be accountable for accurate and timely release of testing data to customers, including sign‑offs of quality control data as acceptable
* Obtain guidance in non‑routine situation testing when required
* Oversee standard and/or routine technical problem‑solving activities
* Interact with customers on technical issues and questions
* Provide input and support on business development opportunities with new or existing customers
* Make formal and informal presentations on conventional and/or routine testing to a wide range of stakeholders
* Assist in the professional development of novice technicians and engineers within the local laboratory
* Carry out examination and implementation of testing concepts and data
* Utilise a range of skillsets, methods, procedures and materials in advanced testing analysis
* Draw on internal knowledge as well as industry and/or academic resources to reach testing conclusions
* Assess products designed to national, regional and international standards
* Prepare technical reports and technical files
Skills / Qualifications
* Working knowledge of laboratory safety
* High level of expertise related to scope, core theories, concepts, terminologies and boundaries of chosen engineering discipline
* Bachelor of Science degree in a science or testing related field
* Excellent verbal and written English communication skills, attention to detail, ability to manage multiple activities at once, collaborative work ethic and demonstrable desire to deliver outstanding service internally and externally
* Demonstrated ability to apply academic knowledge within the context of Element’s business
* In‑depth understanding of testing concepts
* Ability to analyse and compile testing data from tests performed
* Excellent skills in use of computer applications, including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, and ability to learn new applications
