We are looking for a passionate, innovative and enthusiastic Perinatal Pelvic Health Physiotherapist to undertake a new project improving pelvic health during the child bearing continuum. You will work closely with the Maternity team, including the Pelvic Health Specialist Midwife, and the Women's Health Physiotherapy team.
The purpose of this role is to lead and support the local implementation of a perinatal pelvic health service (PPHS) designed in collaboration with SHIP Local Maternity and Neonatal system (LMNS) and NHS England. A minimum of 0.1wte hours per week will be dedicated to the PPHS project, with a specific focus on the education and training programme. This is in line with the NHS Long Term plan commitment to improve access to postnatal physiotherapy services for women. The local ambition is that ALL women are to have education and advice around pelvic health and access to Physiotherapy services.
If experience is limited, a band 6 post will be offered with the intention for you to undergo a period of intensive development and once able to independently offer all necessary service, a band 7 role will be offered. If experience is already sufficient, a band 7 role will be offered from the outset.
Responsibilities
* To provide highly specialist physiotherapy intervention to patients in the perinatal pelvic health service, as part of the specialist team, assessing and treating own caseload of patients who may have a complex presentation and maintain associated records as an autonomous practitioner.
* As a clinical specialist physiotherapist, to take on specified management tasks in supporting the implementation of the SHIP LMNS Perinatal Pelvic Health Service (PPHS).
* To take a lead role and collaboration in the supervision and teaching of qualified and recently qualified physiotherapists, students, therapy assistants and multi-disciplinary team staff.
* Working within the multi-disciplinary team to provide the specialist physiotherapy
* Deputises for senior staff in their absence as required.
* Undertakes evidence-based projects, including recommendations for change in practice and participate in departmental and LMNS PPHS research and audit.
