As a Tool Maker for JLR, you will be working in the West Midlands Press Shop Tool room Team at our Castle Bromwich plant, on newly introduced tooling for new JLR models being commissioned into production. Please be aware that this role involves a rotating shift pattern including nights. WHAT TO EXPECT You will be optimising current tooling activities including Corrective, Preventative maintenance, Engineering Changes, and Quality Improvements. Also ‘Try out’ activities in the press lines, and supporting production teams across the shop, including the Blanking line. In addition, you will be: • Carrying out scheduled Preventative Maintenance activities • Supporting and driving performance on all press and blanking lines – die related. • Engineering change activities and die modifications • Problem solving and route cause analysis for reliability and quality requirements. • Machining background would be advantageous • Die movements using overhead cranes with die weights of up to 55T WHAT YOU’LL NEED Along with your ambition to achieve the exceptional, there are several skills that you’ll need to have to help you succeed here, including: • Recognised Apprenticeship, NVQ level 3/ C & G or similar qualification • You will have a strong Engineering / Tool making background • Experience of working in a Press Tool manufacturing / maintenance environment • Ideally, skin surface Panel Tooling Experience in a car manufacturing industry • Understanding of complex Tooling and Aluminium pressings • Flexibility to work shifts including nights A leading premium automotive business and leading to move towards electric autonomous vehicles.
