Overview

Location: Bedlington

Hours/Contract: 37 Hours, Permanent

Join the Fixed Penalty Unit Support Services Administrator role at Northumbria Police. We are seeking a proactive individual to handle a variety of administrative and casework duties, supporting the management and processing of fixed penalty notices and collision records across the Force. You will provide advice, support and information to the public, working closely with partner agencies and stakeholders to enhance service delivery.


What you’ll do

* Input and extract data from computer systems within required deadlines in support of the flow of information between the Force, and partner/interested parties to ensure the smooth progress of offences and provision of information.
* Receive and process Information and assign to the appropriate file to ensure all files are accurate, actions are up to date and completed in a timely manner.
* Provide advice, support and information to members of the public with Fixed Penalty and collision queries, managing conflict where necessary. Converse with members of the public in person, in writing and on the phone, remaining professional throughout. Ensure accurate records of conversations are maintained and that correspondence is bespoke and well written.
* Provide advice and support to operational officers and staff regarding legislative requirements, offences and offence thresholds. Correspond with associated officers/staff, providing relevant case information and ensuring relevant legislative requirements are complied with e.g. time limits, criteria and thresholds.
* Ensure that section records and performance data are maintained utilising paper and computer systems to log information that can be retrieved when required in support of the objectives of the section.
* Make decisions re the progress of cases across the Fixed Penalty System and assessment to eligibility/legislative requirements. Prepare evidential court files and management of court submissions.
* Contribute to improving the service and support the implementation of changes to systems and procedures to progress and enhance the work of the section.
* Attend court as a witness and represent Fixed Penalty Unit in court proceedings.
* Management of high-volume mail accurately and with integrity, logging and recording appropriately as well as ensuring sufficient supplies are available/maintenance conducted and defects reported.
* Complete relevant archiving of files and associated records in accordance with retention rules and regulations, liaising with relevant service providers as required.

* GCSEs or equivalent qualification or relevant experience.

* Ability to work accurately and to timescale.
* Ability to analyse and respond to complex customer issues using expertise and knowledge.
* Ability to communicate effectively with members of the public, staff and supporting partners at different levels within an organisation.
* Confidence to deliver evidence in court effectively.

Terms of appointment

This is a permanent role subject to a six-month probationary period.
