Paediatric Occupational Therapist (Band 6/7)
Salary: FTE £38 500 - £47 000
Location: Yateley, Hampshire
Hours: (term time only) Full time
(option of working full time split between another school in term time)
Client Based: Services to children 0-16 years School based
Sponsor available if in the UK already

Children may present with a variety of diagnoses including Sensory Processing Disorder, Autistic Spectrum Disorder, Dyspraxia, Cerebral Palsy, Dyslexia, Speech and Language delay/disorders, global developmental delay, or neurological disorders.
Job Role:
* To be responsible as an autonomous practitioner to undertake a clinical workload.
* To undertake assessments of children, using both standardised and informal assessment tools.
* To demonstrate developing clinical reasoning and ability to interpret assessment data and write clinical assessment reports.
* To devise child/family centred treatment plans through use of goal attainment scaling, considering a wide range of treatment techniques, grading activities to ensure that the individual's full potential is developed or maintained.
* To conduct 1:1 and small group treatment sessions in clinic.
* To provide a high standard of clinical record keeping.
* To provide an effective high-quality service to all children and families.
* To communicate effectively with the multi-disciplinary team to promote the safety of children and the management of risk.
Qualification:
* Recognised Diploma/Degree in Occupational Therapy
* Health Professions Council - Licence to Practice (HCPC)
* Evidence of successful completion of a range of other short courses at postgraduate level
* Evidence of attendance at other specialist course relevant to paediatrics
Experience:
* Clinical experience of wide range of paediatric work in clinical or educational settings
* Co-ordination of intervention planning in paediatrics
* Clinical experience of working with children with a wide range of needs including Autistic Spectrum disorders, Dyspraxia, Sensory Processing Disorder and neurological disorders.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
* Excellent interpersonal skills - including observation, listening and empathy skills e.g., breaking bad news or explaining upsetting conditions to patients / families
* Demonstrates excellent analytical and reflection skills at clinical levels
* Well-developed concentration skills and ability to multi-task, and work with frequent interruptions of complex nature
* Excellent presentation skills, both verbal and written, of complex information to other professionals
* Demonstrates high level of computer literacy to enable effective data collection, report and document writing
* Excellent organisational and prioritisation skills
* Demonstrates ability to be a good team member
* Able to synthesise and present complex information at a service level
* Knowledge of the principles of clinical governance /audit
* Understanding of the roles of other professionals
* Ability to work with the diverse needs of clients with complex communication difficulties
* Well established knowledge of a broad range of assessment tools relevant to the specialist client group
* Knowledge of a range of appropriate therapeutic interventions and an ability to compare and contrast relative benefits and outcomes
