What will you be doing?

We are seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to join a leading space and defence organisation. In this role, you’ll act as the main technical interface between Manufacturing and the Product Line/Integrated Project Team, ensuring that all designs align with manufacturing capabilities to meet quality, cost, and schedule targets.

This position is ideal for an engineer with experience in electronics PCB / SMT manufacturing, low-volume high-complexity production, and a solid background in the space, aerospace, or defence electronics sector.

Key Responsibilities

* Act as the main Manufacturing interface for assigned projects and product lines.
* Manage all aspects of New Product Introduction (NPI) into manufacturing and facilities.
* Deliver all Manufacturing Engineering inputs — including work instructions, routings, cost models, and proposals — in line with company processes.
* Identify and resolve manufacturing capability or facility limitations to ensure project success.
* Provide technical support for problem‑solving activities, including NCRs, IRBs/NRBs, and PPSs.
* Identify operational and technical risks and implement mitigation plans.
* Drive continuous improvement and process optimisation to enhance manufacturing efficiency.
* Champion Design for Manufacture and Assembly (DfM/A) principles for new product introduction.
* Support root cause analysis and implementation of corrective actions.
* Contribute to the development and execution of the Product Line Manufacturing strategy.
* Ensure all manufacturing activities comply with health, safety, and environmental policies.

Qualifications

Essential

* Degree or equivalent experience in Manufacturing or Electronic Engineering.
* Minimum 3 years’ engineering experience within the space, aerospace, or military electronics sector.
* Strong understanding of high-reliability electronics, surface mount technology (SMT), and RF product assembly.
* Familiar with all aspects of the project life cycle — from design to production — including programme control, risk management, and cost control.
* Experience working within high‑complexity, low‑volume production environments.
1. Knowledge of Manufacturing Systems such as CAD, CAM, MES, SAP, and Technical Publications.
2. Demonstrable experience working effectively within a matrix team structure.
3. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate across departments.

Desirable

* Experience conducting Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and implementing corrective actions.
* Proactive and adaptable, with a proven ability to drive positive change within manufacturing environments.
