Job Title: Specialist Pharmacist, Surgery
Division/Department: Integrated Clinical Services/Pharmacy
Responsible to: Pharmacy lead, Surgery
Accountable to: Chief Pharmacist
Based at: Northwick Park Hospital
Band: 8A
Hours: per week
Rates: Negotiable
JOB SUMMARY
* Manage, provide and develop a safe and effective clinical pharmacy service to the Surgical Directorate wards and clinical areas, in accordance with Trust policies.
* Evaluate prescribing patterns, drug usage, expenditure forecasting, and provide monthly expenditure reports to the Surgical directorate.
* Plan, organise, and conduct audits within the pharmacy department and the Surgical directorate.
* Maintain a high level of pharmaceutical input and support as part of a multidisciplinary team to ensure optimal and safe medicines usage.
* Develop, advise on, and implement procedures, guidelines, and policies locally or nationally within the area of responsibility.
* Train and appraise trainee pharmacists.
* Lead training and development of rotational band 6 and 7 pharmacists during Surgery rotations.
* Serve as a practice tutor and educational facilitator for pharmacists pursuing the JPB postgraduate Diploma in Pharmacy Practice.
* Assist in training, developing, and supervising ward-based Pharmacy technicians and assistants.
* Work as an independent prescriber or work towards obtaining this qualification, within a defined scope of practice.
* Participate in multidisciplinary training with nurses, doctors, and other healthcare professionals.
* Participate in general pharmacy services including dispensing for discharge, weekends, holidays, late duties, and on-call duties.
