1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant – Full-Time, Long-Term Position

A friendly and inclusive primary school in Watford is looking to appoint a caring and committed 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant to support a pupil with additional needs. This full-time, long-term role begins in September 2026 and is well suited to individuals with experience in SEN or those keen to build a career in inclusive education.
The Role
In this position, you will provide tailored, one-to-one support to help a pupil fully engage with their learning and school experience. You will work closely with the class teacher and SEN team to create a supportive, inclusive, and engaging environment.
Key Responsibilities
Deliver individualised support to a pupil with SEN, adapting learning activities as required
Assist with classroom learning, daily routines, and social interaction
Promote independence, confidence, and positive behaviour
Track progress and share feedback with teaching staff
Support the delivery of Individual Education Plans (IEPs)
Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, and parents to ensure consistent support
Contribute to school life and help foster a positive, inclusive environment
About You
The ideal candidate will be patient, empathetic, and committed to supporting children with additional needs.
You will:
Have experience working with children with SEN, ideally within a school setting
Possess strong communication and interpersonal skills
Be able to follow guidance from teachers and SEN professionals
Feel confident supporting both academic progress and social development
Hold an enhanced DBS certificate (or be willing to obtain one)
