Housing and Land The Housing and Land directorate is responsible for the Mayor’s plans to deliver new and improved homes and strong communities. Working closely with boroughs and partners, we manage the Mayor’s housing investment programmes and land and property assets to support the building of affordable homes, job creation and regeneration. About the team The Land and Development team sits within the Housing and Land Directorate and supports GLA Land and Property Limited (GLAP), which is the Greater London Authority’s commercial subsidiary for property investment, development and assessment management. The team is responsible with the delivery of the GLAP portfolio of development on the Mayor’s land and joint venture interests, alongside entering into new opportunities to unlock development outcomes. Some of our strategic projects include historic regeneration programme such as the Royal Docks, Greenwich Peninsula and Stephenson Street, and newer acquisitions including St Ann’s Hospital and North Middlesex University Hospital. GLAP aims to deliver up to a total of 68,000 new homes on the Mayor’s land and joint venture interests, including homes delivered to date and looking ahead over the next 25 years. This is an exciting opportunity in the Land and Development Team to support some of London’s largest, most complex and interesting strategic development projects for GLAP. About the role This is an exciting opportunity to support the delivery of some of London’s largest and most complex strategic development projects. You’ll work across the full development lifecycle, from inception to completion, contributing to the Mayor’s objectives of building more affordable homes, creating jobs and making London a Net-Zero city by 2030. Reporting to the Development Manager, you will support a varied portfolio of development projects that will provide for new homes, economic development and regeneration of the land. As an Assistant Development Manager, you will apply your understanding and skills to development projects which range from inception to completion. You will work collaboratively, building relationships with internal and external stakeholders to achieve shared objectives. What your day will look like: Directly manage the delivery of smaller development projects with guidance and supervision from the Head of Development as appropriate. Support day-to-day property development activities under the guidance of Development Managers and Senior Development Managers. Undertake effective project management activities, including programme and budget management, compliance with GLA policies and procedures, project monitoring and record keeping. Coordinate meetings, minutes, actions and risk monitoring, escalating issues as needed. Assist in generating revenue from development agreements and meanwhile uses. Contribute to project appraisals and work with Development Managers and Senior Development Managers to prepare reports for approval. Procure and oversee consultants and advisors, including drafting briefs, inputting in procurement and evaluation process, and managing contracts.
