Occupational Therapy Support Worker – North Bristol NHS Trust
We are seeking an enthusiastic individual with previous health or social care experience to support our occupational therapy team providing care to surgical patients at Southmead Hospital. The team covers General Surgery, Vascular Surgery and Burns & Plastics specialties.
Key Responsibilities
* Work under a registered occupational therapist to support patients on the wards and in special therapy areas, facilitating recovery and independence.
* Assist patients with personal and domestic activities such as toileting, washing, dressing, and other day‑to‑day tasks.
* Support group sessions and facilitate other meaningful activities.
* Plan and monitor treatment episodes, adapt protocols with guidance from the occupational therapist.
* Perform administration and departmental duties as required.
Person Specification – Education & Training
* Essential – Good GCSE standard education; Evidence of literacy & numeracy skills.
* Desirable – Level 3 qualification in health or social care.
Experience
* Essential – Previous NHS or social care experience; Experience working in a busy environment; Team working experience.
* Desirable – Initiative and other relevant work experience.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
* Good written communication and IT skills.
* Knowledge & awareness of disability.
