An engineering company is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Quality Planner Engineer to strengthen its quality systems and processes.
This is a critical role, responsible for leading quality planning across the full product lifecycle — from New Product Introduction (NPI) and design feasibility through to production release and ongoing validation. The ideal candidate will combine technical drawing interpretation skills with practical quality engineering experience to ensure products meet the highest standards of precision and performance.
The Opportunity:
As Quality Planner Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in aligning Engineering, Manufacturing, and Quality teams — ensuring that every component and process meets or exceeds internal and customer expectations.
You will lead the development of inspection and quality control strategies, leveraging High QA software for documentation and planning, while driving data-driven decision-making through SPC, capability studies, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
* Interpret customer specifications and technical drawings to identify Critical-to-Quality (CTQ) features and inspection requirements
* Develop and maintain comprehensive quality planning documentation using High QA, including Control Plans, PFMEAs, First Article Inspection Reports (FAIR), PPAP submissions
* Define and implement inspection strategies covering first-off, in-process, and last-off verification
* Support CMM programming and the use of manual and digital metrology techniques
* Conduct SPC and CPK studies, applying statistical tools to enhance process performance
* Collaborate with Engineering on design reviews to ensure manufacturability and compliance with APQP principles
* Execute Measurement System Analysis (MSA) and capability studies
* Participate in internal and external audits to maintain compliance with ISO 9001, AS9100, and related standards
* Lead root cause investigations using 8D, 5 Whys, and Ishikawa methods to drive continuous improvement.
Experience Required:
* Degree or diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Quality Management, or Manufacturing (or related discipline)
* 3–5 years’ experience in quality planning or quality engineering within a precision manufacturing environment
* Proficient in High QA or similar QMS/inspection software (training available)
* Qualified Quality Auditor (internal or lead preferred)
* Strong working knowledge of GD&T, machining processes, and technical drawings
* Hands-on experience with SPC, CPK, FAIR, and APQP/PPAP documentation
* Skilled in the use of inspection and metrology tools (calipers, micrometers, gauges)
* Familiarity with ISO 9001 and AS9100 standards.
Preferred Qualifications:
* ASQ Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) or Six Sigma Green/Black Belt certification
* CMM programming experience (PC-DMIS, CALYPSO, or similar)
* Experience with ERP and Quality Management Systems (QMS)
* Understanding of lean manufacturing and continuous improvement tools
