GMMH are developing services in line with the organisational objectives to ensure that care is delivered is trauma informed and close to home. We have an exciting opportunity that is part of this development journey for our inpatient services.
Responsibilities
As a Senior Practitioner, you will play a key role in delivering high‑quality, person‑centred care to individuals experiencing acute mental health crisis. You will provide specialist psychological and relational interventions, support trauma‑informed care approaches, and contribute to the development of staff expertise in working with Complex Emotional and Relational Needs (CERN).

* Support inpatient teams in delivering trauma‑informed, psychologically informed care.
* Offer clinical supervision, consultation, and training to enhance staff skills and resilience.
* Lead on service development initiatives, ensuring best practices in relational and emotional needs care.
* Work collaboratively with MDTs, urgent care and community teams, as well as external agencies to facilitate safe and effective transitions of care.
* Contribute to risk management, crisis intervention, and de‑escalation strategies.
To deliver the therapeutic intervention and relevant clinical pathways to an identified caseload of people who present with complex emotional and relational needs, in line with the evidence base and best practice. Examples may include the SCM / MBT pathway and model, via individual and group sessions.
To demonstrate the application of specialist skills and knowledge in order to maintain professional competence and fitness to practice as a Senior Practitioner working with people who present with complex emotional and relational needs.
To demonstrate specialised clinical and practice expertise via therapeutic interventions (individual, group or family), supervision and modelling good practice.
To undertake and record comprehensive risk assessment, devise and implement risk assessment plans for service users at risk of vulnerability, self‑harm, self‑neglect, or risk of physical, sexual, emotional harm to others, ensuring compliance with the GMMH risk assessment processes.
To develop psychologically informed formulations of complex difficulties and the system around individuals to inform the MDT’s treatment and management of these difficulties.
To provide direct evidence based therapeutic interventions as appropriate based on the recovery model, the personalisation agenda and a trauma informed perspective.
To develop and support the skills of other team members by providing specialised and structured clinical supervision, consultation and liaison work and opportunities for co‑working.
