Role Overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a physiotherapy assistant to join our Cardiorespiratory and Haematology Teams at St George’s Hospital. The post is rotational, giving the opportunity to work in Cardiothoracics, Haemoncology, Medicine and Surgical units.
Responsibilities
* Work alongside physiotherapists to provide post‑operative care, rehabilitation and discharge planning for inpatients.
* Gather initial information, assess for walking aids and progress mobility using a wide range of equipment to promote independence.
* Make onward referrals to community services and feed back to physiotherapists.
* Carry your own delegated caseload, prioritise appropriately and maintain accurate patient records, stock and audit data.
* Provide administrative and clerical support to the team.
* Develop and promote effective professional working relationships with the multidisciplinary team and motivate patients to participate in acute rehabilitation.
* Work flexibly across the Cardiorespiratory and Haematology teams, contributing to inpatient, post‑operative and rehabilitation services.
Qualifications
* Motivated, committed, reliable and self‑directed team member.
* Excellent communication and organisational skills; the ability to display empathy and enthusiasm.
* Experience within rehabilitation or exercise settings is preferable but not essential.
* Ability to use initiative, work flexibly and adapt across rotations.
