At Abbott Diabetes Care Witney, we develop and manufacture a number of technologies used in the management of diabetes, including the next generation sensor technology used in the revolutionary new FreeStyle Libre Flash Glucose Monitoring system. We are expanding and have exciting opportunities for those keen to kick-start a laboratory-based career in Product Development.
We are looking for a keen, enthusiastic, and driven individual, who wants to start their career in Product Development via an apprenticeship within our R&D Laboratories. Successful candidates will start their R&D Laboratory Apprenticeship Level 3, in September 2025.
Your time on the program will consist of both a work-based learning within our R&D Department in Witney and academic learning with our training provider. You will spend time developing essential Laboratory skills and techniques, supporting business critical sensor prototype builds and novel test requirements. Your responsibilities will include routine Laboratory activities, including maintenance and cleaning of equipment and laboratories, preparation of solutions and test materials, implementation of Good Lab and Manufacturing Practices, and much more. You will work within the R&D sensor line and testing laboratory, and gain experience of working within a Quality and EHS regulated environment.
As an apprentice with Abbott, you will receive ongoing support for your career development, including additional qualifications where relevant. Upon successful completion of your apprenticeship, you can expect a role that will match your skills and interests with business requirements.

Successful applicants will have
- A recognised standard of education to GCSE level
- A good standard of education including focus on mathematical and scientific subjects
- A keen interest in Product Development laboratory work and a passion to work in the industry
