Digital & Software Engineer
The Submarines Supply Chain team are looking for a Digital and Software Engineer to help them on their journey in creating meaningful data solutions. These solutions will provide a data rational view of performance that will enable stakeholders to understand performance and identify projects to improve. The role gives the opportunity to showcase your ability to create data solutions and also equally important to implement these within the Submarines business.
What You’ll Be Doing
* This will involve the creation and/or modification of transactions, products, and content across both digital and offline channels for Rolls‑Royce and our customers.
* You will consistently validate your solutions and designs through comprehensive user‑centred research and testing.
* You will be responsible for determining the optimal, simple, and engaging ways users can interact with services—both in terms of overall flow and at the level of individual design elements. This will encompass portal‑to‑service level design, information architecture, cross‑page interactions, form design, dashboard design, business intelligence visualisations, reporting, validation, and the consistent use of components and patterns.
* You will be expected to create feedback channels both within the product and through offline mechanisms, including quantitative surveys and qualitative user feedback.
* You will work in close collaboration with the Product Manager/Product Owner to ensure design considerations are embedded within the product and consistently enhanced through user research and feedback.
Who We Are Looking For
* Degree level education in Computing, Mathematics, Scientific, Design or Engineering disciplines, or equivalent experience.
* Experience of using data solution toolsets such as PowerBi and Cognos to create dashboards using data from executive systems, which can then be used by stakeholders to identify projects to improve performance.
* Fully conversant with Product Managers/ Owners, Software Engineers and users to develop end‑to‑end service design that is usable, desirable and feasible.
* Ideally has exposure to business areas such as manufacturing, planning & control, purchasing, commercial, engineering management etc.
* An ability to apply logical, analytical and innovative thinking on a range of problem solving.
* An ability to interpret complex business requirements, translating them into conceptual User Interface design of service/solution for both desktop and mobile experiences.
* Experienced in Rapid prototyping of low and high fidelity storyboards, wireframes and sketches.
* Domain knowledge of Rolls‑Royce market facing verticals (i.e. Aerospace (Civil and Defence), Power Systems, Nuclear and Marine) would be advantageous.
* Proactive, persistent and customer focused with a high level of self‑motivation, initiative, and ability to be independent.
* Skilled communicator, able to engage with colleagues, customers and stakeholders.
* Experience working in an Agile and DevOps environment, within a self‑organised team.

To work for Rolls‑Royce Submarines you need to hold a Security Check (SC) clearance without any caveats to that clearance. Rolls‑Royce will support the application for Security Clearance if you don’t currently already have this in place.
