Brightpoint Community College is a two-year public institution of higher education and is the third largest of Virginia’s 23 community colleges. The college is located within the Greater Richmond metropolitan area. It serves students and the community at its two campuses, in Chester and Midlothian; online; and in locations throughout its service area. Our college is seeking qualified individuals to apply for the Associate Instructor position to provide on-campus delivery instruction at both the Chester and Midlothian campuses, with limited opportunity for online instruction. Assigned courses include primarily daytime and evening on-campus sections, between the Chester and Midlothian campuses. The Associate Instructor will teach the equivalent of 39-42 credits per academic year. There are no formal student advising or committee responsibilities. The associate instructor role is a one-year teaching position with salary and benefits. Special Assignments
May be required to perform other duties as assigned. May be required to assist the agency or state government generally in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor.
KSA's/Required Qualifications A master’s degree in Philosophy or related field, or master’s degree in any discipline with 18 graduate hours in the teaching area of Philosophy. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. The successful candidate must be willing to teach 15 or 7-week sessions, as well as a combination of day and evening traditional, on-campus courses, with the ability to be flexible to work at any of the College’s locations. Successful completion and passing of a criminal background check is required. Additional Considerations Certified to teach hybrid, synchronous, and online courses; experience teaching 100 and 200-level Philosophy courses, particularly in the community college setting.
