SYOS is a fast-growing global robotics and aerospace company, driving the development of cutting-edge uncrewed vehicles (drones) across air, land, and sea for dual-use applications. We are committed to pushing technological boundaries and delivering exceptional products that consistently exceed customer expectations. As a Naval Architect at SYOS, you will play a critical role in the design, analysis, and optimization of our advanced unmanned surface vessels (USVs) and marine platforms. This position will involve working at the intersection of naval architecture, mechanical systems, and autonomy to ensure our vessels are efficient, robust, and optimized for both performance and reliability in diverse and demanding maritime environments. Key Responsibilities Lead the design and development of hull forms, structural layouts, and marine systems for uncrewed surface vehicles and other marine assets. Perform hydrodynamic and stability analyses to ensure vessels meet performance, safety, and regulatory standards. Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams—including systems, autonomy, and hardware engineers—to integrate propulsion, control, and payload systems into vessel designs. Oversee structural design and material selection for strength, weight optimization, and manufacturability, ensuring compliance with relevant classification and safety standards. Conduct design reviews, performance assessments, and failure analyses to continuously improve vessel reliability and endurance. Develop detailed 3D models, drawings, and documentation to support prototype builds, testing, and production. Support field testing and trials, validating vessel performance and stability under real-world operating conditions, and incorporating feedback into iterative design improvements. Engage in innovative R&D efforts to push the boundaries of naval architecture for autonomous and hybrid-powered marine systems. Qualifications And Experience A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Naval Architecture, Marine Engineering, Ocean Engineering, or a closely related field. Minimum of 5 years of experience in vessel design, hydrodynamics, or marine systems engineering—experience with uncrewed or autonomous surface vessels (USVs) is highly desirable. Strong understanding of marine design principles including hull form development, resistance and propulsion, seakeeping, and structural design. Proficiency with CAD and marine design software (e.g., Rhino, AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Maxsurf, Orca3D, or similar). Familiarity with simulation tools for CFD, FEA, or stability analysis. Experience collaborating in multidisciplinary engineering environments, ideally involving robotics or autonomy integration. Excellent analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills, with a proactive approach to innovation and continuous improvement.
