We have an exciting opportunity to join our Medicines Management Pharmacy Team at the Royal Lancaster Infirmary as a Band 5 Medicines Management Pharmacy Technician, working clinically at ward level and within the Pharmacy Department.
This role is also open to newly qualified or less‑experienced Pharmacy Technicians who will be appointed at Band 4. Progression to Band 5 will be awarded after 12 months, subject to completion of all required training competencies and satisfactory performance.
The successful candidate will be registered with the GPhC and will hold an Accredited Checking Technician (ACT) qualification.
Responsibilities
* Support the timely discharge of patients by assessing patients' own drugs for suitability.
* Provide specialist pharmaceutical services at an advanced level in specialist areas including audit, final accuracy checking, and medicines reconciliation.
* Support a busy pharmacy by dispensing all types of medication and prescriptions for patient use.
* Ensure safe, timely, cost-effective, appropriate, and high quality pharmaceutical services for patients and staff.
Qualifications
* Pharmacy Technician registered with the GPhC.
* Qualified Accredited Checking Technician.
* Medicines reconciliation trained.

We operate from three main hospitals – the Royal Lancaster Infirmary (RLI), Furness General Hospital (FGH) in Barrow, and Westmorland General Hospital (WGH) in Kendal, as well as a number of community health care premises including Millom Hospital, GP Practice, Queen Victoria Hospital, and Ulverston Community Health Centre.
All three main hospitals provide a range of planned care including outpatients, diagnostics, therapies, day case and inpatient surgery. In addition, a range of local outreach services and diagnostics are provided from community facilities across Morecambe Bay.
