The role
This is an excellent opportunity to join the industry during a period of unprecedented growth, helping to shape the future of the high voltage electrical transmission network in North Scotland and contribute to the Transition to Net Zero.
The Senior Development Project Manager in the SSENT Offshore Directorate will report to the Lead Project Manager and manage the development phase of large capital projects, focusing on offshore cable elements such as landfall site selection, marine environmental assessment (MEA), marine surveys, cable route development, and offshore platform site selection.
The development projects aim to de-risk and refine the project before handover to delivery, including fisheries and public consultation, site selection, planning and marine consenting, and supply chain engagement.
You will
* Provide effective Health, Safety, Wellbeing, and Environmental leadership, ensuring compliance with all policies and standards.
* Evaluate project feasibility, develop options, and select preferred, consentable, and constructible options meeting business case requirements.
* Manage landfall site and subsea cable route selection, leading cross-functional teams and working with key suppliers for surveys and studies.
* Lead planning and consenting processes, ensuring compliance with regulatory and statutory requirements.
* Manage communication with internal and external stakeholders, including JV partners.
* Lead multi-disciplinary teams using robust project management systems to deliver project milestones within governance frameworks.
You have
* A strong focus on health and safety, with experience influencing design-stage safety considerations.
* Extensive experience in early development phases of large offshore projects, preferably in electrical generation/transmission sectors.
* Proven ability to manage stakeholder and supply chain interfaces, especially in multi-contract delivery models and NEC contracts.
* Advanced knowledge of project management systems, risk management, and governance; familiarity with CDM 2015 regulations is beneficial.
* Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with experience engaging diverse stakeholders.
* A degree qualification, membership of a professional body, and a project management qualification are desirable.
