We are looking for an experienced Risk Analyst (Associate Director level) to join our London-based team. We offer a competitive salary of up to £65,000 plus benefits including pension, private healthcare and UK visa sponsorship (if needed).
The Laven Hosting business was established over a decade ago, providing reliable services to the
investment management industry, developing an expertise in product structures and due diligence,
leading the group to offer an FCA umbrella service to appointed representatives and fund
managers. The company is looking for a risk analyst to enhance the firm's offering and
entrepreneurial progression.
Our business caters to all types of management strategies from PE to liquid funds (hedge funds,
UCITS) and including more advanced strategies on ESG, fintech, and digital assets. Under our UK
regulatory umbrella solution, we enable clients to 1) conduct investment advisory activities
and/or arrange deals in investment activities as an appointed representative; 2) to manage
investments as a MiFID investment manager; 3) manage unauthorised AIFs as an AIFM.
Our services are underpinned by a talented team, and we are excited to have clients who are
pioneers in women-led run businesses and tech, including clean tech. We also cater to more
traditional managers as well as many non-UK businesses operating from the UK, thus giving us a
very international client base.
The responsibilities of our Risk Analyst will include:
* Assessing the organisation's risk management policies and protocols by analysing documents, statistics, reports, and best practices and linking that to portfolio exposure
* Implementing processes and procedures to ensure the organisation is fully prepared to deal with any potential investment and operational risks
* Gaining knowledge of investment instruments by familiarising oneself with different asset classes such as equities, derivatives, fixed income, and REITs. Knowledge of digital assets is a plus
* Understanding investment strategies and fund structures such as hedge funds, private equity, and venture capital funds
* Comprehending regulations around financial risks to develop a framework linking risk and business objectives to supervise investment decisions of our clients and discuss such opportunities knowledgeably
* Building relationships with clients and their stakeholders
* Monitoring performance, including assessing PnL and risk against different strategies
* Creating value analyses across various strategies and proposing risk management and investment management recommendations based on that analysis
* Producing investment reports, attending investment meetings, and presenting proposals to management
* Generating regular investment committee minutes and being on top of risk and liquidity for each strategy
* Reporting to management about the most significant investment exposures to the business, ensuring business heads understand the risks that might affect their departments, and making sure individuals understand their own accountability for individual risks
* Keep up-to-date with the relevant regulations for investment management and capital requirements
* Understand the implications of and onboarding of related parties including brokers and administrators
* Understand and be aware of implications and practical functions of transaction and trade reporting
We are looking for the following skills, experience and attributes:
* Minimum of 2:1 university degree or equivalent
* Knowledge of Excel is essential
* Knowledge of Python and web application architecture is preferable
* Sound knowledge of the regulatory industry and FCA regulations
* Well organised and meticulous attention to details
* Excellent analytical and communication skills (written/verbal)
* Proven ability to see issues and look at how to resolve or improve them
* Able to work in a fast-paced environment
