Lead Product Owner - Data and AI Platform
Join to apply for the Lead Product Owner - Data and AI Platform role at AXA XL. The Innovation, Data, and Analytics (IDA) team delivers on a vision to advance data, AI, and digital capabilities to stand out from competitors and to grow adoption of the platform across AXA XL.
The platform facilitates the entire lifecycle of data, machine learning, and AI, including scalable data transformation, engineering, deployment, and operations. It now integrates Azure AI for advanced document handling and provides shared AI functionalities for end-user applications. Our technology primarily utilises the MS Azure ecosystem, especially Azure Databricks and Azure AI services.
What you’ll be doing
* Leadership & Team Management Skills – Demonstrate expertise in managing and coaching cross-functional teams, including full-time employees and contractors, across multiple geographic locations (e.g., USA East Coast and India). Foster a collaborative environment that promotes team productivity, professional development, and effective communication.
* Product Ownership & User Experience Optimisation – Take ownership of platform product development, ensuring the delivery of seamless, compliant, and cost-effective user journeys for diverse user segments, including interactive users, application developers, and IT operations. Design and maintain clear, user-centric workflows that enhance user satisfaction and operational efficiency.
* Compliance & Governance Expertise – Ensure platforms adhere to enterprise standards for data governance, security, privacy, and AI governance. Implement role-based access controls and other security measures that simplify compliance while supporting user productivity.
* Stakeholder Collaboration & Strategic Alignment – Collaborate with senior stakeholders, including the Global Technology CTO, to expand platform capabilities—focusing on enabling rapid, economical delivery of end-user applications. Contribute to the development of managed AI features, standardised deployment processes, architectural patterns, and operational playbooks.
* Communication & Advocacy – Serve as the primary voice of users in discussions with technical, security, and governance teams. Effectively communicate user needs and platform capabilities to ensure alignment and drive strategic initiatives.
This role reports to the Division Lead, Data and AI Platforms.

* BUSINESS Skills – Experience engaging architects and cloud engineers to deliver user-facing data-intensive solutions; system administration, cloud engineering, solution engineering, and architecture; stakeholder management; business process improvement to improve workflows and platform efficiency.
* TECHNICAL Skills – Experience as Platform Owner / Technical Product Owner / Senior Platform or Senior Infrastructure Engineer for a Cloud-based platform; understanding of data science and developer workflows, CI/CD and model management lifecycle; familiarity with data warehousing, cloud services, data governance & controls, AI & automation; willingness to grow technically and managerially; experience with ML and data application development is useful; experience with Terraform and cloud automation is useful; Azure cloud certifications are a plus.
