We’re seeking a Building Control Technical Support Officer to help deliver a customer-focused, efficient, and compliant Building Control service. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key technical and administrative role in supporting the delivery of safe and high-quality development across the borough. Key Responsibilities: Register and validate Building Regulation applications, ensuring compliance with statutory requirements. Manage consultations related to sewer presence, ground gas, fire safety, and structural considerations. Respond promptly and professionally to Building Regulations enquiries via phone and email. Support surveyors by preparing Decision Notices, booking inspections, issuing Completion Certificates, and managing documentation. Maintain accurate financial and administrative records, including invoicing and fee tracking. Handle reports of dangerous structures and support associated investigations. Issue Demolition Notices and process associated consultations. Ensure accuracy in statutory registers, spatial data, and reports for regulatory compliance (e.g., Building Safety Act). Provide support on CON29 searches and maintain the Building Control inbox. Carry out general admin duties, such as processing post, managing microfiche records, and producing site notices. What the client is looking for: Essential Qualifications & Experience: Minimum 5 GCSEs (including Maths and English). Proven experience working in a Building Control environment. Strong understanding of Building Regulations and application processes. High level of accuracy, data entry, and administrative support skills. Strong IT skills, especially in Microsoft Office and GIS-based tools. Experience with application processing software (Idox preferred). Key Skills: Excellent organisational and time management abilities. Clear written and verbal communication. Ability to handle sensitive information with care and confidentiality.
