Job Title: Project Engineer
Location: Office-based – Great Gransden (with UK and international travel as required)

An industry leader in the design and manufacture of food processing equipment is looking for an experienced Project Engineer to join their expanding Projects Team. This is an exciting opportunity for a technically capable and commercially aware engineer to take ownership of turnkey engineering projects from order to installation.
Ideal for someone with a strong background in process or manufacturing engineering — particularly within the food sector — this role offers varied challenges, international exposure, and direct involvement in delivering high-quality solutions to customers.
The Job
This is a key position within the projects team. You’ll act as the main point of contact for customers, overseeing all aspects of project delivery — including planning, procurement, coordination, and on-site implementation. The role is primarily office-based but includes UK and international travel to support installations and manage subcontractors.
Key Responsibilities
Take full ownership of projects from order receipt through to installation, commissioning, and handover
Work closely with customers and internal departments to define and deliver the agreed project scope
Develop and maintain detailed project schedules (Gantt charts)
Produce and manage technical documentation, including P&IDs, BOMs, layout drawings, and project reports
Specify and procure components and third-party equipment
Coordinate Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT), packing, shipping, and export documentation
Plan site installations, including resource booking, RAMS preparation, and subcontractor management
Oversee Site Acceptance Testing (SAT), training, and final documentation handover
Monitor project costs and ensure timely invoicing throughout the project lifecycle
The Person
Essential:
Proven experience managing engineering projects in a process or manufacturing environment
Strong technical understanding of mechanical systems (pneumatics, hydraulics, steam, pipework)
Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate across departments and with clients
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and MS Project
Experience using AutoCAD LT
Ability to manage multiple tasks, solve problems independently, and remain commercially aware
Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel (UK and overseas)
Desirable:
Experience in the food processing or packaging industry
Understanding of electrical control systems
Familiarity with export requirements and international logistics
