Role: HV Commissioning Engineer Location: North East Contract Length: 6 months (Outside IR35) Pay: £450 - £600 Per Day V7 are looking for an experienced HV Commissioning Engineer to support the commissioning of high-voltage substations and energy infrastructure projects across the UK. This role is essential in delivering safe, efficient, and technically robust commissioning of substations up to 400kV. Benefits: * 6 month initial contract * Weekly payroll * Opportunity to work on large scale project The Role: * Plan, coordinate, and execute commissioning of highvoltage (HV) substations up to 400kV, including transformers, switchgear, and associated systems. * Conduct HV equipment testing, including: CT (Current Transformer) and VT (Voltage Transformer) circuits, protection relay configuration and functional testing, primary/secondary injection testing, I/O (Input/Output) pointto-point testing * Produce and review method statements, test plans, and commissioning records in accordance with safety and quality standards. * Liaise with DNOs, National Grid, ICPs, OEMs, and internal teams for safe and timely energisation. * Ensure compliance with Electrical Safety Rules, CDM regulations, and projectspecific switching procedures. The Requirements: * Proven experience commissioning HV substations up to 400kV * Strong knowledge of HV equipment testing, including CTs/VTs, protection systems, and control circuits. * Familiar with I/O testing and SCADA system integration * National Grid experience is desirable * HNC/HND or equivalent in Electrical Engineering or Power Systems. * Able to interpret electrical schematics, protection grading studies, and commissioning plans.
