Role/Job Title: Propulsion System Product Owners
Work Location: Onsite, Midlands UK (5 days)The RoleWe are seeking a highly motivated and technically proficient Product Owner to lead the development and delivery of propulsion system solutions. This role will be responsible for defining the product vision, managing the product backlog, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure successful execution of propulsion system projects, including electric, hybrid, or internal combustion technologies.Key Responsibilities:
* Define and own the product backlog for propulsion system features, ensuring alignment with OEM's strategy and sustainability goals.
* Collaborate with system architects, engineers, and stakeholders to define clear and testable requirements.
* Prioritise backlog items based on business value, technical feasibility, and customer impact.
* Lead PI planning, sprint planning, and backlog grooming sessions in an Agile environment.
* Ensure timely delivery of propulsion system features that meet performance, efficiency, and regulatory requirements.
* Act as the primary liaison between engineering teams, program management, and senior leadership.
* Monitor and report on KPIs, feature readiness, and system integration milestones.
* Support validation and verification activities, ensuring product quality and compliance.
* Champion continuous improvement and innovation in propulsion system development.
Required Qualifications & Experience
* Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Automotive Engineering, or a related field.
* Proven experience (5+ years) in product ownership or systems engineering within the automotive or propulsion domain.
* Strong understanding of electric drive units, hybrid systems, battery integration, and/or ICE technologies.
* Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments with tools like JIRA, Confluence, or Azure DevOps.
* Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and decision-making skills.
* Familiarity with automotive standards (e.g., ISO 26262, ASPICE) is a plus.
Desirable Skills
* Experience with model-based systems engineering (MBSE).
* Knowledge of vehicle-level integration and calibration processes.
* Understanding of software-defined vehicle (SDV) concepts and over-the-air (OTA) update strategies.
* Passion for sustainable mobility and cutting-edge propulsion technologies.
