Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced
Sonographer
with both obstetric and non-obstetric expertise to join our dedicated and supportive team. This role offers a varied case mix, so competency across the full range of ultrasound examinations is essential.

The ideal candidate will hold a recognised ultrasound qualification (DMU or PgC/PgDip in Medical Ultrasound), alongside an undergraduate medical or Allied Health degree, with valid HCPC or equivalent professional registration.

Main duties of the job

* You would be expected to act as an autonomous practitioner whilst maintaining a close working relationship with the Consultant Radiologist and key referring clinicians to develop an innovative and leading edge Ultrasound service.
* You will support the effective planning, development, organisation and delivery of ultrasound training for sonographers and medical staff working collaboratively with the Consultant Radiologists; to provide highly specialist, expert clinical ultrasound knowledge.
* You will provide clinical leadership in ultrasound practice and develop sonographer sub-specialisation in order to facilitate an effective high quality and evidence based service to enhance patient care.
* Working with the Ultrasound Manager and Consultant radiologist to facilitate ultrasound based clinical research/audit and initiate/implement evidence based practice

Detailed Job Description And Main Responsibilities

* Perform all ultrasound procedures to a high professional standard in accordance with the departmental protocols.
* Participate in the Quality Assurance programme in line with IPEM77.
* Undertake training and study, as necessary, to ensure that a high level of personal professional knowledge and expertise is achieved and maintained.
* Actively encourage feedback as part of the departmental quality initiative. Analytical & Judgement skills
* Skills for assessing acute & other patient's conditions, appropriate diagnosis from range of options. Staff development
* Maintain and develop CPD for self.
* Participate in developing the extended role of the radiographer, and research.

Person specification

Qualifications
Essential criteria

* BSc Radiography Degree or equivalent.
* DMU or PgC/PgDip in Medical Ultrasound.
* HCPC Registered

Desirable criteria

* PgD Ultrasound.
* MSc Ultrasound

Experience
Essential criteria

* Experienced Radiographer
* Practical Ultrasound Training
* Experience of undertaking audit.

Desirable criteria

* Experience in training other clinical users / staff.
* Experience in equipment selection and evaluation.
* Experience in delivering benefits relating to change management

Skills & Knowledge

Essential criteria

* Ability to plan and organize as part of a multidisciplinary team.
* Excellent communication skills
* Must be able to exercise professional self-regulation
* Must be able to independently co-ordinate, manage and monitor own work lists.
