Overview
An exciting opportunity for an experienced Emergency Care Practitioner to join an established team in Urgent Treatment Centres serving County Durham and Darlington. The centre operates 24/7 with day and night shifts. This appointment will be made at Band 7 if the successful applicant meets all essential criteria; dependent on qualifications and experience, you may be appointed under Band 7 Annex 21 conditions, with progression to permanent Band 7 on successful completion of required qualifications within an agreed timeframe.
Candidates will work autonomously, assessing, diagnosing, treating or referring onwards patients of all age ranges with a broad spectrum of minor illness and injury presentations. You will be working alongside GPs and an experienced team of Nurse and Paramedic Practitioners, and you will have responsibility for mentoring and developing junior Practitioners and HCAs.
Responsibilities
* Assess, diagnose, treat or refer patients of all ages with minor illnesses and injuries.
* Work autonomously within the Urgent Treatment Centre environment and collaborate with GPs, nurses, and paramedics.
* Mentor and develop junior Practitioners and Healthcare Assistants (HCAs).
* Engage in service development and uphold excellence in practice.
Requirements / Qualifications
* Essential criteria for Band 7 appointment; progression to permanent Band 7 under Annex 21 possible after completing essential qualifications within an agreed timeframe.
* Ability to work across 24/7 shifts (day and night).
* Must provide all essential certificates stated in the person specification to enable pre-employment checks.
Remuneration and Employment Terms
* Band 7 (potential Annex 21 arrangement depending on qualifications/experience) with progression on successful qualification completion.
* Contract ends if essential qualifications are not completed within the agreed timeframe under Annex 21.
Site and Collaboration
We provide hospital services from two acute sites – Darlington Memorial Hospital and University Hospital of North Durham. We also operate a centre for planned care in Bishop Auckland and provide care from community hospitals in Chester-le-Street, Shotley Bridge, Barnard Castle, Sedgefield and Weardale, along with over 80 other community settings and care in patients’ homes.
