Lenovo Hybrid Cloud Services (HCS) Professional Services team is seeking a proactive PNC Service Engineer to oversee water treatment and quality compliance for mission-critical data centre secondary cooling water systems supporting Direct Liquid Cooling (DLC) to high-performance servers. This role ensures all water used in cooling operations meets operational and environmental standards, driving system efficiency and reliability. The position is based in North America (NA) as part of the Power and Cooling (PNC) team of Lenovo’s Solutions and Services Group (SSG).
The preferred application locations are the UK, Romania, Netherlands, or other EU countries.

The PNC Service Engineer should be knowledgeable about secondary cooling water systems supporting DLC servers, with experience in water quality and compliance requirements. Training on Lenovo methodologies and technologies will be provided. The role involves frequent travel to customer locations and managing multiple projects.
Full training will be provided to enthusiastic candidates eager to grow into the role.
The candidate will manage and work effectively in areas including:
* Monitoring and managing chemical treatment for secondary cooling water systems (scale inhibition, corrosion control, biological growth prevention)
* Conducting quarterly water sampling and testing, interpreting results, and ensuring system compliance
* Collecting samples, coordinating lab tests for metals and pH, monitoring trends, and advising clients
* Maintaining proper water chemistry for system longevity, performance, energy efficiency, and safety
* Implementing corrective actions and preventative maintenance
* Developing and updating standard operating procedures for water monitoring and treatment
* Training global teams on water system management and compliance
* Establishing partnerships with vendors for water quality support
* Collaborating with Lenovo lab for diagnostics and recommendations
* Evaluating vendor performance for outsourced water treatment
* Understanding DLC cooling components and troubleshooting operational issues
* Performing preventive maintenance activities like filter replacements
* Project managing vendors contracted for various solutions
Position Requirements:
The candidate must have strong customer interaction skills, technical decision-making ability, and understand the critical nature of data centre uptime. Collaboration across teams, partners, and customers is essential.
Qualifications:
* Knowledge of environmental science, mechanical engineering, chemistry, water resources, or related fields
* Experience in water quality management or environmental compliance, especially in cooling systems or HVAC water treatment in data centres or industrial environments
* Certifications like Certified Water Technologist, OSHA 30, are advantageous
* Knowledge of High Performance Computing systems
Skills and Competencies:
* Expertise in water chemistry for industrial cooling systems
* Familiarity with building management systems and water monitoring technologies
* Strong documentation, analytical, and communication skills
* Ability to manage contractors and coordinate cross-functional teams
* Proven ability to drive issues to closure across stakeholders
