Job Title: ALIM Proofreader
Location: Hybrid – Tadworth, Surrey or Sandwich, Kent (2–3 days onsite per week)
Contract: 12 months (initial)
Hours: 37 hours per week (7.4 hours per day)
Rate: Up to £21 per hour (PAYE)
Role Overview
We are currently seeking an experienced ALIM Proofreader to support a global pharmaceutical organisation. In this role, you will be responsible for verifying and proofreading secondary packaging and labelling artwork to ensure accuracy, consistency, and compliance with regulatory and company standards. This position involves reviewing final printed artwork against Editor’s Copy documents across multiple markets and languages, ensuring alignment with established specifications and trade dress requirements.
Responsibilities
* Verify packaging and labelling artwork against Editor’s Copy documents to ensure accuracy and compliance with local and regional guidelines.
* Conduct technical reviews of secondary packaging components across a global product portfolio.
* Ensure updates and changes are consistently applied across products and product lines.
* Identify discrepancies and collaborate with ALIM Market Coordinators, Worldwide Safety & Regulatory teams, and global artwork centres to resolve issues.
* Annotate artwork using digital proofreading tools and provide clear feedback for corrections.
* Approve or reject artwork based on accuracy and compliance standards.
* Monitor proofreading workload and ensure all requests meet agreed timelines.
* Provide editorial feedback on regulatory documents prior to artwork creation where required.
* Escalate issues and support discussions to ensure consistency across labelling documentation.
Qualifications
* Bachelor’s degree with 2+ years’ experience in proofreading pharmaceutical labelling, packaging components, or medical/scientific documents.
* (Alternatively, 4+ years of pharmaceutical proofreading experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.)
* Advanced proofreading and editing skills with strong knowledge of medical/scientific terminology.
* Excellent attention to detail and ability to maintain focus for extended periods.
* Strong understanding of grammar, typography, punctuation, spelling, and style consistency.
* Experience working with multiple languages or non-native language text is highly desirable.
* Familiarity with electronic or automated proofreading tools and comparators.
* Strong organisational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
* Ability to prioritise tasks, meet deadlines, and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
