Role: Lecturer – Early Years

Location: Central Bedfordshire College – Kingsway Dunstable Campus

Salary/Benefits: Salary from £31,930 per annum (Pro-Rata) DOE and Qualifications, Teacher’s pension, Retail and Leisure Discounts, excellent professional and personal development opportunities, accessing college courses.

Hours/Weeks: 37 hours per week

Contract Type: Permanent – Full Time

About The Role

We are currently seeking a Lecturer in Early Years to join our Care, Childcare and Counselling department at The Bedford College Group.

As a Lecturer, you play an important role in the success of our students through:


* Teaching & Student Support – Deliver high-quality Early Years education across various levels, supporting students to achieve their full potential through engaging lessons, tutorials, and tailored learning experiences.
* Curriculum & Quality Development – Contribute to curriculum design, develop new programmes, and ensure schemes of work meet awarding body standards while embedding vocational and work-related opportunities.
* Assessment & Progress Monitoring – Assess student work, track progress, maintain accurate records, and ensure timely feedback and interventions to support achievement and progression.
* Collaboration & Professional Engagement – Work closely with colleagues, attend meetings across campuses, mentor new staff, and participate in open days, marketing events, and quality assurance activities.
* Compliance & Core Values – Uphold safeguarding, equality, health and safety, and TBCG values in all aspects of the role, while actively engaging in training and continuous professional development.

About You

* Qualifications & Subject Expertise – Holds a relevant qualification at least one level above the teaching level and a recognised Level 5 teaching qualification (e.g. PGCE, Cert Ed). Strong subject knowledge and recent teaching experience in Health and Social Care.
* Industry & Teaching Experience – Background in the health and/or social care sector, with proven ability to deliver high-quality, engaging lessons and manage classrooms effectively.
* Skills & Competencies – Excellent communication, organisation, prioritisation, and interpersonal skills, with strong numeracy and IT proficiency (including Microsoft Office).
* Professionalism & Adaptability – Able to maintain confidentiality, meet deadlines, adapt to changing workloads, and build professional relationships while working independently or as part of a team.
* Values & Compliance – Demonstrates alignment with The Bedford College Group’s values and policies, including safeguarding, equality, and health and safety. Willing to travel between campuses and adjust working hours as needed.
