Randstad Education is currently recruiting dedicated and enthusiastic Primary Teaching Assistants with strong expertise in phonics to join our vibrant supply team in Leeds. The Role
As a supply primary TA, you will work across various local schools in the Leeds area, adapting quickly to different classroom environments and providing vital support to both teachers and pupils. You will focus closely on early reading development, helping young learners build a confident foundation in literacy.
Key Responsibilities:
* Phonics Support: Deliver targeted small group or 1:1 interventions using recognised UK schemes (such as Read Write Inc. or Letters and Sounds).
* Classroom Management: Assist the class teacher with lesson preparation, resource setup, and maintaining a positive, focused learning atmosphere.
* Curriculum Engagement: Encourage children to engage with reading and writing through creative, patient, and nurturing support.
* Positive Reinforcement: Manage pupil behaviour effectively using praise and encouraging strategies aligned with individual school policies.
Requirements
* UK Experience: You must have previous UK experience supporting children within a primary school, nursery, or formal educational setting.
* Phonics Expertise: A strong, demonstrable understanding of standard UK phonics frameworks and early literacy progression.
* Nurturing Traits: A patient, adaptable, and highly compassionate nature.
* Compliance: An enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or a willingness to complete a new check through Randstad.
