They are looking for a knowledgeable, experienced Principal Hydrologist, willing to lead a high-performing team and deliver on an extensive range of projects, whilst contributing to Business Development (BD) activities. You will be based near the lively, diverse town of Wigan. Benefits for the role of Principal Hydrologist include (but are not limited to): Competitive salary (depending on the skills and experience you can offer the role) Contributory pension scheme General annual leave (with option to purchase additional holidays) Regular training and mentoring, with a focus on career development Private healthcare scheme Childcare vouchers Salary-sacrifice Electric Vehicle (EV) scheme Responsibilities for the role of Principal Hydrologist include: Lead the preparation of technical documents for submission, to include Flood Risk Assessments (FRA), Environmental Impact Assessments (EIA), etc. Manage projects, delivering them to schedule and within budget Liaise closely with a range of important clients and other stakeholders, such as the Environment Agency, Lead Local Flood Authorities (LLFA), etc. Check and amend technical documents (e.g., models, calculations, reports, etc.) prepared by colleagues Actively identify and contribute to Business Development opportunities and activities Manage and mentor other hydrological colleagues Required skills and experience for the role of Principal Hydrologist include: A Degree in Hydrology (or a similar, relevant discipline) Chartered Status with a relevant, recognised Professional Body (e.g., CIWEM, etc.) Extensive experience of working in a hydrological role, within a UK-based consultancy (or Local Authority) setting Excellent proficiency in the use of relevant software systems, including FEH, WINFAP, Flood Modeller, HEC-RAS, WinDES, and AutoCAD Outstanding communication (written and verbal), interpersonal, and organisational skills Technically-minded with excellent report-writing skills Desirable skills and experience for the role of Principal Hydrologist include: A higher qualification in a relevant discipline Hold a full, valid UK Driving Licence If you are interested in the role of Principal Hydrologist, please do not hesitate to contact Caroline Davis at Penguin Recruitment.
