Calthorpe Academy is a large and well-established specialist school supporting pupils aged 2–19 with a wide range of complex needs including Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD), and Profound and Multiple Learning Disabilities (PMLD). The school is known for its strong ethos of inclusion, creativity, and unconditional care, providing a highly personalised curriculum designed around each pupil’s Educational Health and Care Plan (EHCP). Staff work collaboratively with therapists, specialist teachers, and families to ensure pupils develop communication, independence, and essential life skills. As a Teaching Assistant, you will support pupils both in the classroom and through practical learning activities. This may include supporting communication strategies, sensory-based learning, and structured routines to help pupils feel safe and engaged. The role requires a proactive and hands-on approach, with staff working closely together to create an environment where pupils can thrive.
